Why remove EXIF metadata?
Every photo from a phone or camera carries hidden EXIF data: often the exact GPS coordinates where it was taken, the device model, and the date and time. Sharing a photo online or by email can hand all of that to strangers. Removing the metadata before you share protects your location and privacy, while the image looks exactly the same.

What metadata is removed?
All of it — EXIF (camera make/model, settings, timestamps), GPS location, orientation tag (which is applied to the pixels first so the photo stays upright), and any embedded thumbnail or color-profile extras. The output is a clean re-encode with no metadata.
Does removing metadata change how the photo looks?
No. The pixels are kept at full resolution; only the hidden data is dropped. If the original used an EXIF orientation flag, that rotation is baked into the pixels so it still displays the right way up.
Which formats can I clean?
JPG/JPEG and PNG are handled directly, and iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos are decoded automatically. EXIF/GPS metadata is most common on JPG and HEIC photos straight from a camera or phone.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding, any editing, and the conversion all run entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device, so it even works offline once the page has loaded.
