How to generate

  1. 1

    Add your image

Drop a square logo or image onto the tool, or click to browse. A 512×512 PNG or an SVG gives the sharpest result. It’s processed locally and never uploaded.

  2. 2

    Review the icons

The tool instantly renders every favicon size and a multi-resolution favicon.ico. Check the previews to make sure your logo reads well even at 16×16.

  3. 3

    Download the package

Get a .zip with favicon.ico, all the PNG sizes and apple-touch-icon, plus the HTML <head> snippet to copy into your site. Free and watermark-free.

Why use Favicon Generator?

Every size you need

favicon.ico (16/32/48), favicon-16/32/48, apple-touch-icon (180) and android-chrome 192 & 512 — the full modern set in one download.

Real favicon.ico

Produces a proper multi-resolution .ico file, not just a renamed PNG, so it works everywhere a classic favicon is expected.

100% private

Your image is rendered to icons entirely in your browser with a canvas — nothing is uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Copy-paste HTML

Comes with the exact <link> tags to paste into your page’s <head>, so wiring it up takes seconds.

From one image to a full favicon set

A modern site needs more than a single favicon: browsers want a 16 and 32 px icon, iOS wants a 180 px apple-touch-icon, and Android wants 192 and 512 px icons for the home screen. This tool renders all of them from your source image at once, center-cropping to a square, and bundles a real multi-resolution favicon.ico too.

Generated on your device

Other favicon generators upload your logo to a server to do the conversion. Here the whole thing runs in your browser using a canvas, so your artwork never leaves your device — useful for unreleased brands and logos you’d rather not hand to a third party.

What actually matters at tiny sizes

At 16×16 the only thing that survives is strong contrast and simple shapes. Fine details, thin lines and subtle gradients disappear. The tool’s previews let you judge exactly that before you download; if your logo is complex, consider a simplified mark or a bold single letter for the smallest sizes.

Frequently asked questions

What files do I get?

A .zip containing favicon.ico (16/32/48 in one file), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180), and android-chrome 192 and 512 PNGs — plus the HTML snippet to reference them.

What size image should I use?

A square image at least 512×512 is ideal, or a vector SVG. Non-square images are center-cropped to a square. Simple, high-contrast logos read best at tiny sizes like 16×16.

Is the favicon.ico a real .ico file?

Yes. It’s a genuine multi-image ICO container holding the 16, 32 and 48 px icons (as PNG data, which all modern browsers support), not a PNG with the extension changed.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding, any editing, and the conversion all run entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device, so it even works offline once the page has loaded.
