Why paying more than the minimum matters
On a high-interest debt like a credit card, the minimum payment barely covers the interest, so the balance shrinks painfully slowly and the total interest balloons. Increasing the monthly payment even a little can cut years off the payoff time and save a large amount of interest — bump the payment up and down to see the effect.

What if my payment is too low?
If your monthly payment doesn’t cover the monthly interest, the balance never goes down. The calculator detects this and tells you the minimum you’d need to pay to make progress.
Is this snowball or avalanche?
This calculates payoff for a single balance. The avalanche and snowball methods order multiple debts; use this to model each debt or your total balance with a combined payment.
Do my numbers get uploaded anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser — your income, loan amount, balances and goals never leave your device. There’s no account and nothing is sent to a server.
