The grams to ounces formula

One avoirdupois ounce is 28.3495 grams, so divide grams by 28.3495: oz = g ÷ 28.3495. For example, 100 g ÷ 28.3495 ≈ 3.53 oz. A quick estimate: 30 g is about an ounce, so divide by 30 and you’ll be within 5%.

Kitchen and postal weights

A 250 g pack of butter is 8.8 oz, 500 g of flour is 17.6 oz (just over a pound), and a 28 g portion is almost exactly 1 oz. Note this is the everyday (avoirdupois) ounce — precious metals use the heavier troy ounce (31.1 g), and fluid ounces measure volume, not weight.
